The Chinese outbound tourism market is growing at such a pace it is forecast that, by 2030, a quarter of all international travellers will be Chinese. In addition, Chinese tourists stay longer and spend more than other nationalities, making this a highly prized market for tourism destinations, attractions, hotels and transport operators throughout the world.
However, the complicated and unfamiliar media, social media and travel trade landscape in China make this a difficult country to break into. China Travel Outbound is a specialist marketing agency with offices in Brighton and Beijing. Our mission is to make it EASY for global tourism brands to access China. Only four years’ into trading, the agency is growing rapidly, now working with clients as diverse as English Heritage, LNER, Visit Wales and Gatwick Airport. We also have clients in Portugal, Dubai and Tokyo. The potential for further global expansion is very real and we are extremely excited about the future for the agency.
Our Managing Director is now seeking a strong, supportive, passionate and talented number two, who has the ambition to work with her to grow the company and who sees the potential in this market. Our Head of Client Services will help take us to the next stage of our development. You will work closely with the Managing Director of CTO, to help shape our strategy, develop new products and services, and ensure the highest levels of service delivery are maintained throughout this period of growth. You will have a small team of UK-based Account Managers and Executives working with you and full responsibility for the delivery of the programmes of work for each client.
You will also work closely with our team in Beijing, but the role is based full time in Brighton with only occasional overseas travel required. There is no management responsibility for the Chinese office as this is handled by our Chinese director.
We think you might have an agency background with at least eight years’ experience of client service. You will have great leadership skills and the ability to inspire and manage your team. Proven excellence in delivering high levels of client satisfaction is vital to the role. Knowledge of the Chinese outbound travel market would be advantageous, but is not a requirement. You will learn quickly and there are many of us to pass on our experience.
Most importantly, an entrepreneurial mindset, a desire to grow the business and strong commercial acumen are fundamental to success in this role.
